“My journey began in 2004, driven by the desire to create wines that reflect the unique character of our native grape varieties and the land itself. With a deep passion for winemaking, I’ve drawn inspiration from my family’s agricultural heritage and the winemaking tradition of Marsala. Each day, I immerse myself in every stage of production, from cultivating the vines to crafting the wine, from bottling to selecting the grape varieties. My idea is not to create a perfect wine, but a wine that pours emotions. The only boundaries I work within are those of respect for nature and the land. With each vintage, I embrace research, experimentation, and innovation, while still honouring the legacy of what we’ve achieved in the past. Through my wines, I aim to highlight the special connection between grape variety and terroir. Our mission is to capture the essence of Sicily, particularly the Marsala region, by reviving the culture and tradition of producing wine exclusively from our own grapes.”

“My adventure began in 2004 with the ambition to produce wines that would tell the story of the native varieties and characteristics of my territory. Guided by a passion for wine, I was inspired by my family’s farming knowledge and the winemaking tradition of Marsala. Every day we strive to follow the entire production process, from growing grapes to winemaking, from bottling to proposing varietals. My idea is not a “perfect” wine but a wine that can excite and is recognizable by its personality. There are no limits except that of respect for nature and the land. Each vintage I leave room for research, experimentation and innovation, but without distorting the work we have already accomplished in the past. In my wines I try to enhance that unique bond that is established between grape variety and place. Our commitment is to express Sicily, particularly the Marsala area, by reviving the culture and tradition of making wine only from grapes.”

“Old Marsala”-called Altogrado or Stravecchio by the peasants-is an oxidative wine that originates on the coast of western Sicily, where wine-making traditions are intertwined with the island’s thousand-year history. Although its modern form-the one known as Marsala-was shaped by the British in the 18th century through fortification with alcohol, its true heart lies in the original, more ancestral version…

Barraco Winery’s main vineyards are located in 6 distinct locations in the Marsala area.
We are dedicated to preserving ancient traditions, cultivating only native grape varieties, and favouring the vine training method of the Alberello Marsalese. The vines are grown in a circular pattern towards the ground, shielding the grapes from the intense heat of the sun and strong winds, thus creating an ideal microclimate that helps preserve their quality. Every action we take is focused on respecting the land and its heritage, with the aim of producing wines that capture the true spirit of Marsala.
